BONTOC – The clamor of the people of Barangay Tonglayan, Natonin for place to conduct community and school activities was now answered with the construction of the new open gymnasium amounting to P4, 450,000.00 funded by the Provincial Government of Mountain Province.
Relative to this, a Thanksgiving Mass officiated by Deacon William Mogigi was held on January 7, 2015 proceeded by the inauguration of the open gymnasium. The blessing and inauguration of the open gymnasium was witnessed by the representatives from the Provincial Government of Mountain Province, Local Government Unit of Natonin, barangay officials, faculty and students of Tonglayan Elementary School and Natonin National High School, community of Tonglayan and representatives from the religious sector.
In his message, Barangay Captain and ABC President Jimmy G. Todco thanked the Provincial Government of Mountain Province thru the leadership of Governor Leonard G. Mayaen for responding to the clamor of the people of Tonglayan. He said that the open gymnasium will serve as venue for the activities of the schools, barangay, municipality of Natonin and even provincial affairs.
Also, the faculty and students of Tonglayan Elementary School and Natonin National High School, barangay officials and senior citizens extended their gratitude stressing that they now sheltered place for their activities.
Meanwhile, Governor Leonard G. Mayaen is happy that the people of Tonglayan now have an open gymnasium. The governor also announced that the open gymnasium is now a property of Barangay Tonglayan and the school as the provincial government is turning over the management and maintenance of the facility to them.
Mayaen is also hopeful that development will continue to prosper in the eastern part of the province with the opening and concreting of roads and construction of infrastructure projects making it easier to bring programs of the government to the constituents.
Also present in the Thanksgiving Mass and Inauguration Ceremony were Sangguniang Panlalawigan members Raul M. Lapon and Stephen V. Afuyog.
