BONTOC- Some 60 employees of the provincial government and national line agencies underwent a week-long training on basic life support (BLS), methods of emergency transfers and first aid last July 7-11, 2014.
This is part of the celebration of the National Consciousness Month this July with the theme, “Makialam, Makiisa, Sa Pagsugpo ng Panganib May Maitutulong Ka”.
The said activity was sponsored by the provincial government through its Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) in partnership with Red Cross- Mountain Province Chapter.
PDRRM Officer Anacleto Tangilag said that volunteers and mutual assistance is not a problem in cases of emergencies; however, there is a need to address the lack of knowledge on first aid and rescue skills especially so that the participants can be possibly tapped anytime in cases of emergencies and calamities.
Tangilag added that the participants will be trained as emergency responders and that they can also apply what they have learned in their own office and community.
On behalf of Governor Leonard Mayaen, Provincial Administrator Johny Lausan advised the participants to actively participate in the weeklong training to become emergency responders.
Lausan said that the provincial government initiated the training in its aim to impart and enhance knowledge on disaster risk reduction and emergency rescue skills and the “dos” and “don’ts” during and after the occurrence of a disaster.
He is also thanked the trainers from the Red Cross- Mountain Province for unselfishly sharing their knowledge on BLS and first aid to the participants.
