MP strengthens ties with Benguet through sports meet

Bontoc, Mountain Province – Mountain Province emerged as the champion in the first ever Friendship Meet of Provincial Employees as part of the activities in celebration of the 115th Benguet Foundation Day and Adivay Festival in the last week of November 2015.

Provincial Sports Development Officer Arnaldo D. Petten said that the Provincial Government of Mountain Province accepted the invitation of Benguet as the friendship meet promotes physical fitness among employees. Also, it strengthens camaraderie and closer ties among the employees of both provincial local government units (PLGUs).

Petten relayed that the employees of the Provincial Government of Mountain Province played head- on matches with the employees of the Provincial Government of Benguet in the disciplines of volleyball, badminton, table tennis, and darts. Volleyball and table tennis were broken down to the men and women division. The badminton and darts were lumped to team competitions.

In the volleyball men, the game finished with a 3-1 decision in favour of the Benguet team. Mountain Province team fought back winning in the women’s volleyball with a 3-2 decision. Benguet team added to its score from darts while Mountain Province banked on table tennis and badminton.

Petten further said that 35 employees of the Provincial Government of Mountain Province participated in the event. In support to the participants, their transportation, accommodation and meals was funded by the Provincial Government of Mountain Province through the Provincial Sports Development Office (PSDO).

Apart from the participation of Mountain Province in the dual meet, Jess Valdez Jr. of the PSDO wowed the audience with his song intermission during the closing ceremony. // Alpine L. Killa and Jess Valdez Jr.
