BONTOC – Winners in the Search for Most Outstanding Public Health Nurse, Midwife, Hospital Nurse and Nursing Aide received Certificate of Recognition, gift and cash incentive of P10, 000 each from the Provincial Government of Mountain Province during the 2nd Provincial Health Worker’s Conference and Philippine Public Health Convention on December 9, 2014 here.
Relative to this, Governor Leonard G. Mayaen and Dr. Penelope A. Domogo of the Provincial Health Office handed the awards to winners of the search.
Marilyn Moog of Paracelis Rural Health Unit was adjudged as the Outstanding Provincial Public Health Nurse, Caroline L. Asimao of Palitud, Paracelis was chosen as the Outstanding Provincial Rural Health Midwife while Sabina Galdayen of Paracelis District Hospital was the Outstanding Provincial Nursing Attendant.
According to Midwife IV Mary Lee Piluden of the Provincial Health Office, the search seeks to recognize and reward health employees of their great contribution and achievement in the delivery of quality public service.
She said that the search covered all permanent employees. This includes one entry for the Most Outstanding Midwife in the municipality, all public health nurses for the Most Outstanding Public Health Nurse and one entry for Most Outstanding Nurse and Nursing Aide for every hospital.
Piluden added that the qualified nominees are those with at least five years as permanent employees in the agency, no pending administrative or criminal charge and was never administratively charged and penalized since entering the service.
She further explained that the winners were selected with corresponding points cited in the evaluation criteria. First is 40 % Work Experience to include cheerfulness; dedication and willingness to go beyond the call of duty; commitment, sincerity and effectiveness; stress tolerance and diligence. Second is 30% Leadership Qualities to include decisiveness, resourcefulness and innovativeness. Third is 20% Human Relations thru maintaining a harmonious relationship towards clients, peers, supervisors and subordinates. Fourth is 10% Compliance to Civil Service Commission rules and regulations and basic office or hospital policies such as courtesy, punctuality, wearing of office uniform with ID, regular attendance to flag raising ceremony, compliance to No Smoking, chewing and spitting of “momma “ and not under the influence of liquor before entering the office while on duty.
Other awardees who received Certificate of Recognition were Evangeline A. Mendoza of Bontoc MHO for on time, reliable, accurate, systematic reports; Merryl Kait B. Regaspi and Ronald L. Wangwang as Advocates and Model for Physical Fitness and Health Lifestyle.
Further, the 10 Municipal Health Offices (MHOs), Provincial Health Office, Barlig District Hospital, Besao District Hospital, Bontoc General Hospital, Paracelis District Hospital, Natonin Community Hospital, Luis Hora Regional Memorial Hospital (LHRMH) and St. Theodore’s Hospital received Certificate of Recognition for the successful conduct of Measles Rubella and Oral Polio Vaccine Mass Immunization (MR OPV MI).
Also, Certificate of Recognition were awarded to selected barangays, municipality and hospitals for their best practices. Barangay Chupac in Barlig was recognized for its Environmental Sanitation; Bontoc General Hospital for its Waste Management; Sagada Rural Health Unit for its Community Health Team, Lubon Barangay Health Station in Tadian for its , Barlig District Hospital for its No Smoking Policy, Bauko for its Barangay Health Workers and Barangay Supang, Sabangan for its Sanitation Practices.
Meanwhile, Governor Mayaen in his message commended the health workers for their honest and sincere participation in the programs of the provincial government concerning public health. “You are the front liners in the delivery of health services to our constituents in the province because it is you who know their needs and concerns”, Mayaen stressed.
